Hands down one of my favorites and 5 stars. Mindset is everything. Take advantage of this book. I respect Mr. Must have. This book is a classic. Peters tremendously. Excellent from an Entrepreneur standpoint.
I guess I just don't believe these are the deciding factors to become Excellence. Ask 100 CEOs and 101 would response with the same platitude. and you get the sense that "OK, what's new here." These are all very good advice.
It wasn't the knowledge that the authors' admission of falsifying data in support of their findings. It could just be the age of the book. I had a hard time finishing this book, tried it at least three times.
I mean, concepts such as "close to customer", "empower employee", "simple management layers". It is still a good read as a historical study of the science of management. After reading some of the online commentaries and authors' interviews, I accepted the advice given in the book are still valid.
In my last attempt I managed to finish 80% of the book and skimmed the rest.
If you like this book you will also like "Built To Last" and "From Good To Great". Highly recommended. This book results from a study of several American companies trying to determine the patterns which make them consistently successful. It covers in detail eight timeless common basic principles which make companies great.
Do not buy this product. The beginning of the cd was ok, but then the quality got progressively worse.
The presentation is still useful in that he highlights some of the key findings and his observations of studying US corporations but I still feel I now need to buy the book. I bought this CD beleiving it to be the audio version of the book which it is not. It's a recording of a presentation by Tom Peters.
